AI Discoverability
A plain language look at why AI visibility matters for your organization, and how our technical work and our partner's research work fit together.
Search is splitting into two paths. People still type into Google, but more of them are just asking ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, or Claude directly. What those tools say about your organization depends entirely on what they can read, understand, and trust on your website.
When someone asks an AI "what does your company do?" or "who's a good provider in your industry," the AI doesn't call you. It reads whatever it can find on your website and answers from that. If the site blocks AI crawlers, hides content behind heavy JavaScript, or has no structured data describing who you are, the AI either gets the answer wrong or leaves you out of it entirely.
"What is your company?"
This is the first thing we ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude, before we touch anything. It gives us a clear before picture of what these tools currently believe about the company.
This is what people mean by AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization). It's the work of making sure your site is structured so AI systems can find it, read it correctly, and cite it accurately. It sits right alongside your existing SEO work, not in place of it.
Getting found by AI is part technical groundwork and part strategic content. Mangrove handles the technical foundation directly. For the deeper research and content strategy layer, we bring in Cue for Good, a B Corp agency that specializes in AI discoverability research for organizations like yours.
The under the hood work: making sure AI crawlers can actually access your site and read it correctly.
The language and landscape work: how people actually ask about what you do, and how your content should answer.
There are roughly 28 checks across two tiers. About half of them are quick wins we can fix on the spot during the audit. Anything that touches site structure, authorship, or content formatting gets scoped separately, so you know exactly what's ahead.
Accessibility directives exist so screen readers and other assistive technology can process a page and describe it to someone who can't see it. AI crawlers work almost the same way. A well structured, accessible site is already most of the way toward being AI readable, so work you've already invested in tends to pay off twice.
We run the AI baseline test and walk you through a short live intake session, so there's no long questionnaire sitting in someone's inbox.
